Ever heard of lifestyle blogging?

When new bloggers think of starting a blog,

A lifestyle blog is usually the first thing that pops into their heads,

Mostly because it is the only type of blog that allows you to blog about all your passions at once and even take a step further to blog about your own life.

Hence the huge attraction,

I mean, who doesn’t want to blog about their life and tell you every little juicy detail about what happened to them on that exclusive trip to the Bahamas!

The thing is,

Most established bloggers don’t think that blogging about your life and your everyday tasks can make you money,

I believe differently,

This is why in this blog post, we will be diving deep into the world of lifestyle blogging.

Telling you every single detail you need to make money with a lifestyle blog while writing about what you love and proof of other big-time lifestyle bloggers who are currently killing it!

So if you are ready, let’s get cracking!

What is a lifestyle blog?

A lifestyle blog is a type of blog where the posts are inspired by the life of the blogger himself, the topic is usually based on hobbies the blogger is interested in and articles are often presented in a very personal way that attracts readers from all walks of life who have the same interests.

The most common niches of lifestyle bloggers include;

Mental health awareness, Health, Relationship Advice, Fashion, Nutrition, Beauty, Culture, Travel, Religion, Professional Development, Parenting (motherhood or fatherhood), Life Hacks, Fitness / Bodybuilding, Personal Development / Self-improvement, and Weight Loss.

How do you start a lifestyle blog?

The best way to start a lifestyle blog is to simply follow the steps I have outlined in my previous blog post on how to start a blog step by step creating and designing your very own WordPress blog and choosing a good WordPress theme.

Be sure to choose a blog niche that you are passionate about so you can keep yourself interested in learning more about it and writing about it even after you have written 100 blog posts on the topic.

If you need help on how to choose a unique name for your blog,

Feel free to check out these amazing tips on how to choose a blog name that you will not regret after two months.

What do lifestyle bloggers talk about?

If you are wondering how to create lifestyle content then here’s a tip,

Lifestyle bloggers create content around their personal life, interests, and activities in such a way that it is helpful and useful to their audience,

It could be anything from that new restaurant they visited in New York City or even the new lipstick shade they tried out from the store down the road from their apartment.

The most important thing to remember about lifestyle blogs is that it is a blog centered around topics that the blogger finds interesting

and can present their own unique view and expertise in a way that is helpful to their readers.

So feel free to choose a topic you are very comfortable with,

Don’t worry, your audience will come to you.

Should you start a lifestyle blog?

Lifestyle blogging is not for everyone, human beings get bored very easily,

and am not just talking about your readers, am talking about You!

If you know that you will eventually get tired of writing about your life and the things you are doing in an interesting way that will engage your readers,

Then maybe lifestyle blogging is not for you.

This also goes for people who are extremely private and do not feel comfortable sharing details about their lives online.

You might be better suited for other types of blog niches that do not require you to spend 3 plus hours writing about how your day went and what you did.

How to Become a Successful Lifestyle Blogger

1. Research Your Blog Niche

The first initial stage on your journey to becoming a successful lifestyle blogger is to carry out your research,

This includes the initial process of researching blog niche ideas, defining your target audience,

and checking if your niche is high in demand, analyzing your competition,

You can even go ahead to register your domain name and design your website.

This stage can make or break your lifestyle blogging journey as choosing the wrong niche,

Not doing proper research for the market demand, paying attention to defining your target audience, or creating products or posts that will be beneficial to them,

can be a huge problem later on in the long run.

2. Blog Consistently

Just as with any business,

consistency is key especially when it comes to lifestyle blogging,

it’s very easy to give up thinking that you are doing things all wrong or that it won’t work,

it is very easy to get discouraged especially in the beginning because,

at that point,

no one knows you yet and Google is still trying to figure out what your blog is about so you have little to no traffic whatsoever.

The important thing is to keep going,

keep publishing high-quality posts that provide value to your readers and keep providing the best tips as much as you can,

this will help you build up a solid portfolio and expertise in the subject and with time help you to establish authority in your niche and eventually increase your website traffic.

3. Be Real and Authentic

One of the most distinguishing factors of lifestyle bloggers is their ability to write content that is just 100% unique,

Something that you simply can’t find anywhere else on the internet,

This is easier because they are writing about their lives and their interests which are unique to each person.

Creating your own identity as a lifestyle blogger is the key to standing out from the crowd

and letting your users know you better and know what kind of content to expect from you.

4. Provide Quality Content

Make sure that you are constantly publishing high-quality content for your readers by going the extra mile to find out things that will make their lives easier within your niche,

Delegate a special time to converse with your audience,

and go as far as asking them questions using forms and polls on social media to get an idea of what type of content they would like to see from you!

You don’t have to know it all,

Make sure that you carry out extensive research,

Especially on topics that you have little to no idea about to make sure that you are providing the best possible information out there.

5. Network With Other Bloggers in Your Niche

This is one area where lifestyle bloggers have a huge advantage,

Just as with any other blog niche,

Lifestyle bloggers can network with each other and meet physically with other bloggers in their niche to collaborate on different blog content ideas.

For me,

I have found that the best place to make new blogging friends is on social media and platforms like Tailwind,

where you have the opportunity to meet other bloggers like yourself who are in a related or similar niche to yours.

You can exchange ideas with them,

learn from each other, and even create plans on how to promote your content to each other’s audience.

6. Engage with People on Social Media

One of the biggest attributes of lifestyle bloggers is their ability to continuously engage with their audience on social media platforms,

they are constantly posting videos, reels, and photos that their audience is interested in seeing

also, go ahead to ask their audience what they think and you can do the same too!

Take some time out of your busy schedule to make sure that you are responding to comments people left on your social media posts,

that you are also commenting and liking other people’s social media posts, and engaging in conversations with them.

While this might be time-consuming,

it’s totally with it, as so many lifestyle bloggers have found most of their clients this way.

Here are some social media tools that make growing on social media very easy…

Monetization Strategies for Lifestyle Blogs

1. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is one of the biggest ways bloggers make money,

In fact, it is said that more than 68% of affiliate marketers out there are bloggers,

This is because of how easy it is to monetize content and blog posts by simply adding affiliate links to them.

As a lifestyle blogger, depending on your chosen niche,

There are always products that you can promote to your audience to make some money,

You can do these by adding affiliate links when talking about specific affiliate products in your blog post,

This way when a reader clicks on an affiliate link to make a purchase, you get a commission for every purchase made using your affiliate link.

For a more in-depth explanation,

read this post on how to monetize your website using affiliate marketing.

2. Display Advertising

Displaying ads on your blog is the next best way to make money from your lifestyle blog,

When your website starts to get a good number of monthly website traffic to your blog posts,

You want to go ahead and enable ads to display on your website,

The most common ad display network for beginners is the Google Adsense program which allows you to monetize your blog even if you are not getting millions of pageviews yet.

As your pageviews and no of sessions increase,

You can then apply for other premium ad agencies like Ezoic, Adthrive, or Mediavine to help increase your earnings on Ad monetization,

These websites do require you to have a certain number of monthly pageviews or sessions to get approved for the ad program

The requirements differ from ad agency to ad agency.

3. Marketing Sponsored Products

The next best way to make money with lifestyle blogging is by advertising products of specific companies in your niche,

for example,

If you were in the fashion industry,

Then you could create sponsored posts for companies like Adidas or Shein,

Where you advertise their products to your audience and make commissions on sales for visitors coming from your website or blog.

Depending on your lifestyle blogging niche,

The type of products and companies you can work with will differ,

but the great part is that there are no shortages of companies out there to work with,

Just make sure that you are genuinely recommending products that you have tried and liked to avoid losing the trust of your audience.

4. Selling Online courses

You can also go ahead to make money on your own blog by opening an online shop and selling your very own digital products and courses to your audience,

Depending on your Lifestyle blogging niche,

It can be anything from cookbooks to workout plans to cheatsheets and so much more!
